 Genesis

The Junior Zagato Archive (full name:
Foundation the Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Junior Zagato Archive Netherlands 1300-1600) is a private initiative by Rolf van Hillegondsberg and Nancy Hendriks.

Starting from the competent age to drive a car at the age of 18 years, Rolf is "cursed" with the so-called "Alfa Virus".
He was infected by this virus from the moment he was allowed to drive in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Nuova Super from time to time that was his father's car.
By profession financial advisor/tax lawyer for people with a medial profession, initially Rolf collected all what was related to Alfa Romeo, started a library, bought in 1976 his first own Alfa, ( a Bertone AR GT 1600 junior) , was active in various positions from the early ' 80-s for the SCARB (the Dutch AROC).

Various types of Alfa Romeo (among others competition racing by participating in the Giulia Super "Squadra Bianca team" for some years), were driven by him in a series of years, but his greatest love was/is the AR model with those magisterial driving characteristics:
the Junior Zagato.
He eventually managed to buy this JZ 1300 in 1994.
From that moment on he collected everything connected with the Junior Zagato:
(specific) spare parts, brochures, manuals, reports, books, scale models, advertisements, technical documentation, colour leaflets etc.

During a period of 5 years, Rolf realised, with the help of some very expert and skilled partners, a "top-down" restoration of his own 1300 Junior Zagato and this practical work reinforced his own technical knowledge of the 105 Alfa Romeo significantly.
Rolf has a fine library, documentation, information and knowledge centre lined up in
his Junior Zagato Office at home.
These assets are available to the Junior Zagato Archive and her members.

 
Nancy was, at a very young age, by doing of her father as founder and president of the SCARB, "infected" with the "Alfa Romeo virus" and has also, over the years,  collected a lot of books, magazines, leaflets, drawings and (scale) models about various Alfa Romeo models.

Dating from the life time with her father, Nancy has an enormous passion for the brand,
owns her beloved AR Giulia 1300 Super (1972) and has a fantastic knowledge of many types of Alfa Romeo.
She has her own extensive Alfa Romeo library and, in the footsteps of her father, Nancy is a well appreciated writer for Automotive clubs and magazines. 

HJZA-mission

The goal of the Archive is to get and stay in touch with other Junior Zagato owners.
And together with them to find out the history of each individual JZ, capture, save it for the future and exchange valuable information about this ,at a very small scale produced Zagato bodied and extremely interesting Alfa Romeo.
We have the intension to provide every JZ owner with information about his/her car and, if necessary, to (help) restore his/her JZ so that the owner can start or continue to drive in this illustrious Alfa Romeo with it's most enjoyable way of driving.

The Junior Zagato Archive has no fixed connection with the FCA group, with Alfa Romeo, brands clubs, registers or designers, is not public and fully independent and autonomous.
Nevertheless, there exist various and open contacts of mutual advantage.

 
The Archive is recognized by Atelier Zagato and Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione Storico in Milan, FCA Herritage (Italy) and is a member of the Federation Historic automobile and Motorcycle clubs (Fehac/ FIFA) in Leersum (the Netherlands).
 

Ontstaan

Het Junior Zagato Archief (voluit Stichting het Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Junior Zagato 1300-1600 Archief Nederland) is een particulier initiatief van Rolf van Hillegondsberg en Nancy Hendriks.
Al vanaf de rijdbevoegde leeftijd van 18 jaar is Rolf behept met het zogenaamde Alfa Virus. Hij werd geïnfecteerd door dit virus vanaf het moment dat hij wel eens in de Alfa Romeo Giulia Super Nuova van vader mocht rijden.

Van beroep financieel adviseur/fiscalist verzamelde Rolf als hobby aanvankelijk alles wat met Alfa Romeo te maken had, begon een bibliotheek aan te leggen, kocht in 1976 zijn eerste eigen Alfa, een AR GT junior 1600, was vanaf begin '80 in verschillende functies actief voor de SCARB (de Stichting Alfa Romeo Bezitters).

Diverse types Alfa Romeo (o.m.een witte Giulia Super die hij zelf bouwde voor deelname aan de racecompetitie "Squadra Bianca)", werden door hem in een reeks van jaren gereden, maar zijn grootste liefde geldt toch wel het model met die magistrale rij-eigenschappen: de Junior Zagato, die hij uiteindelijk in 1994 wist aan te kopen.
Vanaf dat moment verzamelde hij alles wat ook maar iets met DE ZAGATO te maken had: (specifieke) onderdelen, brochures, handleidingen, rapportages, boeken, schaalmodellen, advertenties, technische documentatie, kleurenfolders etc.

Gedurende een periode van 5 jaar heeft Rolf zelf met hulp van een aantal zeer deskundige en vaardige partners een "top-down" restauratie van zijn eigen 1300 Junior Zagato kunnen realiseren en daarmee werd zijn eigen technische kennis van de 105 aanzienlijk verstevigd.

Anno 2011 heeft Rolf een mooie bibliotheek, documentatie, informatie en kennis opgebouwd en deze wordt binnen het Junior Zagato Archief ter beschikking gesteld.

Nancy werd op zeer jeugdige leeftijd door toedoen van haar vader evenzeer behept met het Alfa virus en heeft in de loop der jaren het een en ander verzameld aan boeken, tijdschriften, folders, tekeningen en modellen.
Nancy heeft een grondige kennis van de diverse typen Alfa Romeo, rijdt in haar eigen
AR Giulia 1300 Super (1972) en beschikt over een grote bibliotheek van/over dit automerk.
In de voetsporen van haar vader wordt Nancy gewaardeerd vanwege haar schrijf talent en als schrijfster levert zij werk aan en schrijft zij voor autobladen alwaar o.m.in "Het Klaverblaadje" al diversen artikelen van haar hand verschenen.

Missie HJZA

De doelstelling van het Archief is om in contact te komen en te blijven met andere Junior Zagato eigenaren.
En om met hen samen de historie van iedere individuele JZ uit te zoeken, vast te leggen en voor de toekomst te bewaren.

En voorts om iedere JZ eigenaar met kennis van zaken te helpen om zijn/haar auto zonodig te helpen restaureren en in zodanige staat te brengen en te houden opdat de eigenaar met plezier kan blijven rijden en anderen in staat kan stellen om van deze illustere Alfa Romeo mee te blijven genieten.

Het Junior Zagato Archief heeft geen vaste binding met de FCA Groep, met Alfa Romeo, merkenclubs, registers of ontwerpers, is niet openbaar en geheel onafhankelijk en autonoom.

Dit neemt niet weg dat er diverse contacten bestaan indien omstandigheden daartoe aanleiding geven en deze contacten een wederzijds voordeel opleveren.

Het Junior Zagato Archief wordt erkend door het Atelier Zagato en het Alfa Romeo Centro Documentazione Storico te Milaan, FCA Herritage (Italië) en is lid van de Federatie Historische Automobiel- en Motorfietsclubs (Fehac) te Leersum.

 Mission HJZA

The aim of the Archives is to keep in touch with other Junior Zagato owners.
And to work with them to find out, record and save the history of each individual JZ for the future.
And also to support every JZ owner in helping to restore or improve his/her JZ whereever possible so that the owner can continue to drive with pleasure and enable others to enjoy this illustrious Alfa Romeo to continue to enjoy.

"The Junior Zagato Archives" has no permanent relationship with the FCA Group,
is not on the paylist of Alfa Romeo, trademark clubs, registers or designers, is not public
and therefore completely independent and autonomous.

This does not alter the fact that there are various contacts if circumstances give reason to do so and these contacts yield a mutual benefit.
